I became interested in birth sixteen years ago when I gave birth to my daughter, Natalie (pictured below). During my pregnancy, I read extensively and after much consideration, decided on a home birth. It was a wonderful experience, during which I felt perfectly supported by my midwives, doula and husband.

Although I continued to be a passionate advocate for woman-centered birth, almost ten years passed before I became a doula. My daughter Natalie, fascinated with all things birth, saw a flyer on the window of our local video store advertising a doula training workshop, she convinced me that I should go. I am thankful every day for her encouragement!
